\nI put my Internet devices away so I am not distracted.
\nI decide to watch a movie.
\nIn the movie, there is a song playing in the background.
\nThe song is completely unimportant to the plot of the movie.
\nI almost but not quite recognize it.
\nI start humming along, but most of the words escape me.
\nThe song has long since stopped playing in the movie.
\nI stop paying attention to the movie.
\nI will die if I can’t figure out what the fucking song is.
\nI want to figure it out myself like I would have before the Internet.
\ni don’t want to skip to the credits.
\ni want to know now.
\nI think I remember hearing someone performing it at the Lane County Fair when I was a kid.
\nIt was not the same artist that performed it in the movie.
\nI hum and sing.
\nI ask the cat if he knows.
\nI turn the movie off and make tea.
\nI wander around the house.
\nI swear.
\nI kick a cat toy.
\nI go and get my phone and type the snippet of a lyric that i caught into Google.
\nOK then.
